憂鬱症患者比例逐年增高，是現代文明病的代表之一。但大多數人對憂鬱症還是有很大誤解，甚至認為他們只是「玻璃心」、「爛草莓」、「缺少抗壓性」......
醫生表示，憂鬱症其實是生理疾病的一種，因為某些原因，讓患者的大腦缺少血清素、正腎上腺素，因此他們「沒有感到快樂的本錢」。就像你沒辦法控制腸胃炎時肚子不舒服，憂鬱症患者也沒辦法控制自己的想法。
因此什麼「不要看不開啊！」、「想想愛你的人！」、「人生苦短，你為什麼不樂觀一點？」之類的安慰，在憂鬱症患者聽來，都只是一連串的「幹話」。
正確安慰憂鬱症患者的方式，就是最基本的「傾聽」、「陪伴」，只要耐心陪在他們身旁，就是很大的安慰了。另外也要多鼓勵他們就醫、服用藥物、找心理諮商師，多數患者在就醫幾周後後，都能有效控制病情。
